Craft Show Delights

There was much fun to be had in the park under the warmth of the September sunshine. People milling about, looking at all the wares that the vendors had to offer…wandering booth to booth, across the aisles and up and down the rows.

Success was to be had, and I couldn’t be more grateful to those who came out. Many took my business card, and a few asked about classes and even placed special orders. I call that a big win!!

Now I begin the huge undertaking of updating my online inventory ~ taking down what has sold, and replacing with things that need to be added that I didn’t because I thought they would “go” in the shows.

I’ll also be getting in touch with a couple of the local shops to see how much they charge for space ~ I think Handmade Treasures is going to branch out!  I’ll keep you updated with more news on this.

Until I see you in the craft room…I’ve got loads to catch up on!  xx ~ Jan

Paint-poured Wonder!

Just when you think you’ve tried everything with paint, you learn of acrylic paint pouring. I’ve been doing this for about a year, and the results are still amazing to me every time.

A splash of color here, a fleck of a glittery glow there, and you have something really magical. The concoctions are similarly mixed, but never exact so your outcomes differ from night and day.

Visit my Facebook page (Handmade Treasures by Jan) to view how different mixes are made and how you can vary the technique for pouring can be completed.  And then…add some lyrical, fanciful lettering to your project and WOW! What a beautiful piece you’ll have!!

Are you interested in learning about this a little further? Comment below or message me on Facebook. Classes are available virtually, and they’re just as effective as if we were sitting together!

Until we see each other next time!

Beautiful Watercolor Works

On a rainy morning, I find quiet solace in my craft room with my watercolors and markers. The colors flow as do my wonderful creative endeavors. Some of them are successful and some of them are not so much.

Today, I let paints, water and art flow and I was pleasantly surprised by outcome. I will be finishing and framing the small works, and hoping that eventually they will find a wall in someone’s home following my next craft show.

Paints used: Jane Davenport’s Bright pallet and Altenew’s  Artist 24-pan set on Grumbacher 140LB•300 GSM Watercolor paper

Until I see you in the craft room…

Makin’ tags!

When you enjoy making crafty messes, and getting your hands dirty, there is no better project than to pull out some tags and make bookmarks or gift tags!!

You can use rubber stamps, sprays, acrylic paints…all sorts of mediums to make the very most amazing creations.  Applied with brushes and stencils, markers, beaters or by smooshing your tag into ink on your choice of desktop surface.  The possibilities are truly endless!!

Here are a few examples of some lovelies that came from the craft room. Want to see more? Let me know! I’m happy to demonstrate how easy they are to create.

Cheers to happy crafting!!
xxJan
